Our stay in Monterey was very quick but very meaningful. As we packed up our Camper, we made a stop in Santa Cruz, CA to meet someone that we wanted to thank in person for their support over the years.
Four years ago when we started raising awareness, it was prior to Matthew getting his diagnosis of Angelman syndrome, so our focus was with the March of Dimes and our team name was “The Walking Dad.” We used that name because we love the show “The Walking Dead.” We were amazed and very thankful for AMC and the creator of The Walking Dead (Robert Kirkman) gave us legal rights to use the name and associate it with their logo. Multiple cast members tweeted out support and they took one of our shirts, had the cast sign it and then sent it back. We still have it hanging up, to this day. Below are a couple of images from old twitter posts:

While raising awareness as The Walking Dad team we were also blessed to get the support of a very well-known marketing “evangelist” and genuine nice guy (no pun intended.) Guy Kawasaki tweeted out support for us, so we reached out to let him know we would be in the area. He graciously invited us to his home so we could stop and get a photo together.
Mike wanted to stay and go surfing since he hasn’t been in over 20 years but we had to get back on the road and I didn’t want him to embarrass himself. 🙂
Thank you again to Guy Kawasaki for all the love and support of our cause, throughout the years.
